Subscriptions and e-mail notifications

Would it be possible to allow people to subscribe to blogs and get automatic notifications when there are new posts? RSS would of course be the painfully hip way of doing this, but troglodytes would probably prefer plain old e-mail.

I'll look into it

I think there is a module for this. If not it shouldn't be too difficult to hack, er, I mean code.

Looked & found...

If you visit your profile page you'll see two new tabs:

*Notify- sends you a mail any time the site is updated *Subscribe- lets you configure your subscription options. If you select "blogs" under the content type, you'll get an extra link at the bottom of blog entries that let you subscribe to them.

I'm not sure if these are different enough to need both (I found and installed "Notify" before I came across "Subscribe").

I'm going to let them both run for a while and see if they're both useful or if we could get by with just Subscribe.

Can you enable the Subscribe

Can you enable the Subscribe option for blogs by default? I'd wager that 99% of the potential audience will never touch their profiles...

done...

You should see "subscribe" links for blogs and posts now. You can still control preferences from your profile
