Romantic get away in Marrakech:riad marrakech DAR NAJAT BY BLACK ZITOUN
FRIENDS IN RIAD DAR NAJAT: -Dar Najat is only 5 minutes walk from Jemaa el Fna, the hub of the Medina, on a quiet street and with a welcoming frontage to draw you in to... The Riad is over three floors and is beautifully decorated with a collection of African artwork and local furnishing and decorations. We immediately felt very welcome in the surroundings and, despite it being 11 o'clock in the morning, had breakfast brought to us on the top floor roof-garden ( the whirr of the orange juicer every morning really puts you in the mood for what is a fabulous breakfast). We also enjoyed two excellent dinners while we stayed-the best food of our trip! The owner and staff were all very friendly towards us and did so much to make us feel welcome, always with a smile. It is very telling that all the staff seem very happy working there. There is plenty of opportunity to meet other travellers also staying there, but you can just as easily enjoy your own privacy;the atmosphere is very relaxed. All the bedrooms are different but have everything you could hope for in such accommodation- we slept very well in our comfortable bed. Each day, after our return from exploring the city, we would find that our room had been completely tidied and the towels all replaced- a reflection on how well kept the whole Riad is. For years we had wanted to go to Marrakech-even the name sounds exotic-and Dar Najat is certainly the perfect place to match our experience of the city. We would love to go again...
-When we arrived at the airport there was a driver to take us to the Riad, were we had a very enthousiastic welcome from Oliver, the owner, and his lovely wife Souad. In fact, all of there staff appeared to more than friendly: Oliver said to feel at home and we did! They will do anything to make you feel comfortable! We had a very pleasant stay for a week.
The rooms are beautiful and have a great ambiance. We did have some special moments on their fantastic roof-terrace, with a nice cold bottle of wine enjoying the flowers, the great music (we bought some of the cd's they played there and still enjoy it at home...!): it is a quiet and friendly place after walking through Marrakech and the souks for hours.
Nothing is too much trouble: Oliver arranged a car and driver and we had a great day driving to the mountains. He also had faboulous suggestions where to eat, but the food at the Riad is great as well! We did enjoy our breakfest very much every morning; eggs, fresh orangejuice, bread, chocolate bread, some kind of pancakes, fruit; all you can eat. Nice tea when we came 'home', and of course the great dinner we had two evenings. We thougth it was a very gently gesture to find a big botte of water in our room...
I don't know what else to say; Riad Dar Najat is an oasis amidst the hectic and busy activity in the medina. A perfect location to see Marrekech, only a few minutes walk to the Jemaa El Fna (the main square) and the souks. We would certainly recommend this Riad and love to come back!! Thank you Oliver, Souad, Youssef, Armina, Hind, and mom, and all the other nice people we met, for making our holiday one never to forget!!
- have now stayed with Olivier at Dar Najat 3 times and its just like going to a friends secret hideaway in the middle of the medina of bustling marrakech. A very warm, generous and helpful guy, he will send you to the best authentic restaurants or bars in town or organise a relaxing massage or day trip for you to the mountains. The riad itself has a gorgeous terrace with a jacuzzi, views over the medina and with many plants, making it your own secret garden where you can relax, have a drink and take in the days adventures. I recommend Dar Najat to anyone who wants to experience the best of what Marrakech has to offer whilst having their own little private hideaway Bon Voyage! thank a lot for lovely words to all dar najat's friends! http://www.dar-najat.com "coolest ryad in marrakesh"
