New photo manager

You'll notice that clicking on the "Photos" button no longer takes you to Gallery2. Instead we have a home-grown native Drupal solution. Currently you can view all images, all images for a user X or tag Y. Soon you'll see new navigation tool that allow you to see a images belonging to user X tagged with Y, tag clouds, and other display options. There are a couple of known issues:
- Breadcrumbs seem to be a little inconsistant
- The photo nav tabs don't show up on actual photo pages, only on indexes
- Titles on photo index pages are too big and don't truncate themselves (please try and use short titles until this is fixed).
- Alignment is off if there's only one photo on an album
Let me know if there are any other features you'd like to see or bugs that you wouldn't!

Limit all index by user
And what I mean by that is, if user X uploads 50 images, the first two pages of index will all be his or her shots. If we limited it to, say 3?, per user, then we'd see three of his/hers, followed by the most recent 3 of other users. Clicking on "x's photos" would of course get you all by that user.
I don't know if we'd want to extend this to the photos-by-tag page too. Maybe I'll throw together a couple of different views and ask for feedback...

Photos in blogs broken?
The option to attach an image to a blog is no longer there, and the images I've previously used in my blog entries seem to be gone...? (That is, they're still in my gallery, but they don't show up in the blog entry.)

Image insert button
There's a new button on the WYSIWYG panel-- it looks like a camera. Click it and then you have the option to select an image from your (or anyone's) gallery or upload a new image. Let me know if you have any problems...

Bug-o-rama
Cool concept, but the implementation's still got a bunch of problems:
* If you enlarge a thumbnail (which defaults to be too small, methinks), it's not recalculated and looks like shite. * If you shrink a "preview" size image (why not "full size"?), the image looks good, but at least when right-aligned whitespace is not recalculated, so you get gobs of empty space (cf. this). * It should be possible to specify the image size, in pixels or percentages. * There appears to be no way to edit the image description/alignment after it's added. * Picture alignment should probably default to right. * Regardless of how the alignment is set, in the editor the image is always aligned left. (Preview/submit show up correctly.)

*Could you clarify how you're enlarging and resizing things? *You should be able to specify image size if you select "other" for the size. *For some reason on my dev site you can just click on the image and get the img assist pop up again to change description, etc... but it's not working here. I'll look into this *The widget that builds the front page doesn't seem to be looking at the alignment, weird.

Resizing
Click the image corners after it's been placed, drag and stretch.
Also, I don't see an "other" option for size, I get only "thumbnail" and "preview".

Bumpity-bump
All the bugs listed above still appear to be there.
Also, it's be Really Nice(tm) to have a "gallery"-type option so you can just line up some pictures in a row. Resizing and aligning images to match is pretty much impossible right now.

I like that...
I like the mini-gallery idea a lot. I'd really rather have a set of canned features (ie add a row of 3 picks, add an intro image, etc) than leave people to figure out how to resize and align things ad hoc-y all over the place.
I'm still looking at other WYSIWYG image insterters, but they all seem to have their flaws. I may switch tactics and just come up with a toolbox of image options, would that work for you?

Oh, my requirements are
Oh, my requirements are modest: all I need is a kind word, a warm bed, and unlimited power...
I think the current system is broadly speaking OK functionalitywise, I'd just like to see the bugs above fixed so it would be a little more usable. The gallery thing would be nice cherry on top of the cake. If you do decide to go for a toolbox, then "intro pic", "thumbnail here" and "row of images here" would be the three I need.

I'd rather not...
give people total control over image display, but we can add a couple of styles and let users select from a list.
I'll look into the other stuff... thanks for putting it through it's paces!
In the meantime, would it be helpful to have the old one-image-per-blog wiget back on or is that too many options?
