Alas, Old Bill is no longer with us. For over three months he has been my faithful travelling companion and has had my back (well the back of my neck anyway) covered right from the first day we met. But tragically in the rush to board a train to Chaing Mai a couple of nights [...]

I feel your pain.

On the trip to the Italian volcanoes that I blogged about last year, I left my much traveled and much loved, if unspeakably cruddy, Tilly hat (see my avatar) in a bar on the island of Vulcano. For the whole year since, I've been trying to connive some way back there to find it... So my sympathies on Old Bill.
