You are born today by default

If you try to enter your personal details, it shows up the current day as default and there is no way of not entering your birthday if you don't want to.

Good catch...

Thanks, I'll take a look at changing how that works...

Actually, how useful is a birthday field? I guess it's nice to wish folks a happy birthday...

You are born today by default..... ?

Well, not exactely today, but a couple of years ago.... this message is a mere coincidence Smile It's Giorgio's birthday today... so, Happy Birthday to you, buddy !

Well there you go...

It is useful!

Happy Birthday!

Indeed

It is useful to have. You just shouldn't be forced to enter it.

Happy Birthday Georgio!

It is also useful for finding freaky coincidences

The number of Wikitravel administrators sharing a birthday seems to me considerably above the proper average that statistics have laid down for our guidance. (with apologies to Oscar Wilde (http://emotionalliteracyeducation.com/classic_books_online/tiobe10.htm)

... How very bizarre! And what a coincidence

hihi... It is indeed possible that is, not unlikely. It is plausible and, after all, why not!--But I don't recall it, sir!(with apologies to Eugene Ionesco, The bald soprano, -look for the key-word "coincidence") Wink

Coincidence..

... is logical (with apologies to Johan Cruyff ("Toeval is logisch" -cf. http://www.verkopersonline.nl/vko-crm/index.php/id/5/catid/telindex.php?...)

For a more detailed approach of this particular example of logical coincidence see the birthday paradox: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthday_paradox

1/1

I had my wife create an account yesterday, and it now appears to default to 1/1, with no option for not entering a birthday.

She's now ageless...

I rolled out a couple of fixes for profile pages-- one of which is that the default date is left unchanged it displays "ageless"; I also fixed the block that displays a users recent blog posts to include outside blogs and a couple of other minor things.

thanks

Thanks

Superb!
