Crossroads role between w66 and WT

Congrats on the site! Looks great, works fine.

In my personal view the best way to launch crossroads is as the personal profile site that you can use for both w66 and wikitravel. It would be the glue between the two sites, maybe you could include other non competing travel sites as well.

To make that successful using crossroads would have to be smooth for current users. Ideally no extra login and no need to add stuff I have already addded. I would expect to get a crossroads account automatically and have it filled with my profile info that is on w66: my maps, my contributions, my pics. The new stuff (blogs, forums, friends) would be a logical extension, then.

I would also expect the following new functionality in that approach:

- changes in my destinations, I can see which info has been added and change immediately on both sites and then act.

- posts by my friends.

Excatly our thinking too!

Richard, Glad you're enjoying the site and happy to see you here!

The "glue" idea is exactly what we're thinking (have you read the road map?)

We have the user profile & recent changes intergrations your mention on our todo list. As for posts by your friends, if you click on "My friends" on the left menu, you'll see posts by your friends in the right column. There's a lot of places where the UI could probably use some work, so please give us your comments!

Thanks again, Maj

Agreed!

Thanks for the thought, Richard. Yes, we're hopeful that users from both communities will find a bridge here in Crossroads.
