Wild Vieques or green traveler?

Just happened to read your Vieques travel account. The jury is still out as to whether you found the experience instructive, educational, or even fun.

However, you seem to have gripes that are typical of the folks who are used to American Express tours or Holland America cruises, where everything is perfect, attended to, and just simply peachy.

What gave you the impression that Vieques would be like that?

You sure you are an independent traveler?

Vieques is delightful for its sheer beauty and not for its "efficient" publicos. Too bad you did not have the opportunity to explore any of the truly spectacular beaches. The fine staff at Banana's would have gladly steered you in that direction. Sun bay is fifteen minute's walking dist. from Esperanza.

As to the overcharging publico driver, well, allow me to suggest that, since in your profile you state a desire to go to the Sinai peninsula in Egypt...never use a cab in Sharm-el-Sheikh, or Dahab or any of the other towns in the area. The drivers all come from Vieques.
