I think we the people have to step-up efforts in helping the observatory to continue its mission. The senior review was bias in their estimate of Arecibo's relevance and it was weekly defended during the review. In collaboration with Cornell University the observatory has a “contribute” site that was setup to allow the public to donate o the observatory.

I've made my contribution to Arecibo and I think we all should as well!!!
