Russki? Ya ne ponimayu! My Russian is pretty rusty, but yeah, I'm sure my former studies of Cyrillic helped a bit -- St. Cyril was, after all, Greek himself. But unlike Russia, Athens is chock full of signs in English, so you have to pay attention or at least get a bit off the beaten path to deal with the local script. Greek letters are also a bit further from Latin than Cyrillic, so PECTOPAH-style strings parsable in both just don't seem to happen very often.
