Search assistant tool for Wikitravel

I made bookmarklets for Wikitravel.

Basic version

  • Jump from Wikitravel search result page (Special:Search) to Google site search.
  • Only for Wikitravel's seach result page.
  • It will work on IE6/Win and FF2/Win, maybe...

Enhanced version

  • Click on Wikitravel page → prompt and go to Google site search.
  • Click when you select (highlight) text on Wikitravel page → go to Google web search with selected (highlighted) text.
  • Click on Wikitravel's seach result page → go to Google site search with keywords in search box of left navi.
  • Click when you select (highlight) text on Wikitravel's seach result page → go to Google web search with selected (highlighted) text.
  • Click on other site (*) → prompt and go to Google site search.
  • Click when you select (highlight) text on other site (*) → go to Google site search with selected (highlighted) text.
  • * -- Excluding sites using MediaWiki (sites having search box with Id="searchInput"). The bookmarklets will work on those sites the same as Wikitravel.
  • IE6/Win version and FF2/Win version are available.

How to get a bookmarklet

I couldn't save a bookmarklet as Hyper Text Link on Wikitravel language versions, Shared and Extra. So I create a GEOCITIES page below.

  • For IE6 users; point at "WT to Google" link, press down (right) mouse button and choose "Add to Favorites".
  • For FF2 users; point at "WT to Google" link, press down (right) mouse button and choose "Add Bookmark".

Bookmarklets are available here.

If bookmarklet does not work on your browser, sorry, please just delete it. And then, bump the tech request of server side search enhancement by adding comment "Hurry up!". Tongue out
