An excellent point, however, I was basing my opinion on the fact that the original poster wrote the question in English, and assumed, though that may have been foolish to do so, that he/she, like myself, cannot speak Croatian. Thus, in that sense, arranging to get off the beaten is easier because of a lack of a language barrier, or at least the language barrier shouldn't be as hard to overcome.
Personally, I'd like to do Denali, but my real dream would be to take a tent, one of those super-thermal sleeping bags, sticks, matches and go camping for a week in the middle of nowhere. Then, have a plane pick me up at the end of the week. Of course, I'd bring a GPS and sat phone, just to make sure no one forgets about me.
