I was recently thinking about the various services similar to Crossroads and I think that Crossroads has a great chance to be a threat to other similar services in terms of profitability for IB. The biggest difference between Crossroads and other services is that Crossroads is being (will always) developed with user input, rather than being developed by businesses with no idea of what the user needs or wants. Crossroads has the great potential to become a leader in this genre because this is a service being developed by the traveller and I want to give everyone props for what you're doing here.
Anyhow, I really like Evan's ideas for the maps and the idea for also getting a gallery of images for a particular destination. The idea of creating a map for a particular itinerary along a specific route seems interesting too. It would be cool to create an itinerary for towns and sites along U.S. Route 50, as an example.
Maj, I believe "mostely" is spelled "mostly", but we don't have the spell-checker yet so I can't confirm this. :)
