Anoushka's first trip

We were feeling a little ambitous yesterday, so we decided to make a family outing to Martigny to check out an exhibit of Picasso's cirus-related works that Allegra had heard about. Allegra, Noema, Anoushka, and Allegra's brother Dominic and I had a nice lesiurely continental breakfast while Allegra's mom, Tina attended Palm Sunday mass, then we all loaded up in the various strollers and went down to the station, while Dom went off to play Ultimate Frisbee.

Bern vs. Smoking

It looks like another domino is about to fall in the campaign to allow
people to go out to a bar or restaurant without coming home smelling of
second-hand smoke: the Swiss canton of Bern is considering a
ban on smoking in bars and restaurants with the exception of those
which create fumoirs - special sealed smoking lounges. Bern would
join cantons Tichino and Soleure, and of course the neigboring states of

Q&A

Q: It's really helpful to read your article "Big Back Yard: The Lazy Hikers Top Three ". I am going to Switzerland with a friend this winter, want to try the "non-ninny way" in Leukerbaud for the spa. Do you think it's possible to do this in the winter with all the snow on the mountains if the weather is nice enough?

Q&A: Moving to Geneva

Q: I'm actually living in Montreal with my family but would like to move to Geneva for June or September this year. Citizenship French-Canadian, we were wondering how we had to proceed to live and work there, if it's difficult or not. I'm looking for an administrative assistant position and my husband for IT Technical-support.

Q&A: UNemployment

Several years ago, I wrote a couple articles for various travel and expat magazines about living and working in Geneva, Switzerland. I still get at least 2-3 emails a month from people either living in Geneva or thinking about moving there asking me to either a)get them a job or b)get them on the right track to finding a job. The question-a emails I rarely answer anymore since I don't live there and wouldn't hire someone who sent me a cold-call mail (never with a resume attached!) if I were.
