I haven't written for a very long time, mostly because I was concentrating on a project which wound up taking a few months longer than I'd hoped: editing a print version of the Wikitravel Paris guide for Wikitravel Press.

We were feeling a little ambitous yesterday, so we decided to make a family outing to Martigny to check out an exhibit of Picasso's cirus-related works that Allegra had heard about. Allegra, Noema, Anoushka, and Allegra's brother Dominic and I had a nice lesiurely continental breakfast while Allegra's mom, Tina attended Palm Sunday mass, then we all loaded up in the various strollers and went down to the station, while Dom went off to play Ultimate Frisbee.

It looks like another domino is about to fall in the campaign to allow people to go out to a bar or restaurant without coming home smelling of second-hand smoke: the Swiss canton of Bern is considering a ban on smoking in bars and restaurants with the exception of those which create fumoirs - special sealed smoking lounges. Décollage Horaire
So we've been back in Swiss Romande for a bit more than a week now, and I think we're all just about finished with our unstuck schedule.
It was last year around this time when I learned that the proper French for "jet-lag" is décollage horaire. I had previously thought they just used "jet-lag", after having been told so by our previous landlord. I guess he was mistaken. It turns out that "Jet-lag" was in fact a trendy bar in the old town here in Lausanne, and quite a few people hadn't learned the English meaning of the name. So here I was explaining our fuzzy-headedness by saying "we have a trendy bar in the old town", which got me some puzzled looks.
