London was at its glorious best as we touched down at Heathrow in an April afternoon by Air India’s AI-111 from Delhi.  Our gang of four comprising Rakesh, the honcho from Indian Oil with a mischievous smile, Rintu, the lady with lyrical giggles from IIT-Kharagpur, my colleague, Naveen and myself proceeded for the immigration.

Suddenly I thought: wasn't coming to this place the reason I had continued on my journey for so long? I was brought here by a countless series of coincidences. These stories contain far too many references to the distasteful weather, and I probably sound more obsessive and fixated than usual, but rain has fallen every day I arrived in this sunshine-deprived land of incessant precipitation, and I’m beginning to crack. Some permanent images from my current life include:

Falling water from the sky, spraying, spitting, hissing. Prolonged vitriolic cries of disgruntled seagulls. Outrageously frigid wind in the summer. Settling cold infiltrating the tender marrow. A mere four channels of televised crap
